⚡ Essential Ritual Guidelines

Sargi Rule (Pre-dawn): The Karwa Chauth fast is observed as a strict Nirjala Vrat (without food or water). Before sunrise, consume the Sargi (milk, pheni, hydrating fruits, dry fruits, and sweets) gifted by your mother-in-law and formally take the sacred Vrat Sankalp.
Evening Puja & Katha: In the evening during the auspicious Muhurat, set up the Chowki with Karwa Chauth Mata picture, Shiv-Parvati, and Ganesha. Hold 13 whole wheat grains in hand while listening to the Karwa Chauth Katha. After the Katha, offer the Baya thaal to your mother-in-law and touch her feet.
Karwa Ferene Ki Rasm: During the puja, women pass the sacred Karwas amongst each other 7 times while singing traditional Suhaag songs. (Note: One Karwa is dedicated for Puja, and the other is used for Moon Arghya.)
Sieve & Moon Arghya: After moonrise, light an earthen diya inside the decorated sieve (chhalni). First gaze upon the Moon through the sieve, and then view your husband’s face through the same sieve. Immediately offer pure water mixed with raw cow milk, akshat, and white flowers to Chandra Deva using the holy Lota.
Breaking the Fast: After performing the Moon Aarti, touch your husband’s feet to receive his heartfelt blessings. The husband then lovingly offers the first sip of water and a sweet to his wife with his own hands to conclude the fast.
